BWW Preview: SANDY HACKETT'S RAT PACK SHOW Coming to Kansas City
Sandy Hackett's Rat Pack Show, presented by the Theater League of Kansas City, comes to the Kauffman Center of the Performing Arts on May 27. The show marks the end of the 2013-2014 season for the Theater League.
Sandy Hackett's Rat Pack Show gives the audience an opportunity to see a recreation of entertainment icons, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and Joey Bishop. The Telegraph and Gazette write, "There are several shows out there but if you're looking for authenticity instead of imitation, "Sandy Hackett's Rat Pack Show" is the one to see!"
The show is in its fifth touring season for the 2013-2014 Broadway Season Theatre Tour and is produced by the jointly led production company of Lisa Dawn Miller and Sandy Hackett. Miller, the daughter of songwriter Ron Miller, stars in the show as "Frank's One Love," based on Sinatra's great love Ava Gardner. Hackett is the son of the late comedian Buddy Hackett, who via voiceovers recorded before his death in 2003, portrays "God."
For Once in My Life - The Great American Ron Miller Songbook, is a documentary about her father that Miller is producing and directing. The film focusses on his significant contribution to American pop culture and explores his personal and colorful life. Hackett Miller recently premiered their new production, My Buddy. Directed by Miller it stars Hackett, who shares stores and personal anecdotes about his father.
The musical includes classic songs such as "That's Amore," "For Once in My Life," Luck Be a Lady," and "Mack the Knife." "The interpretation by the actors capture the stage essences of the Pack members in a way that is eerily supernatural." - Albert Goodwyn, San Francisco Examiner.
Sandy Hackett's Rat Pack Show runs from May 27 through June 1. Purchase tickets, starting at $36, on line at the Theater League of Kansas City website.
