Gone but not forgotten are the famous foursome called The Rat Pack. The Artist series proudly presents Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack Show, “Shadows in the Desert” from February 10 – 12, 2012 at the Wilson Center for the Arts (on Florida State College at Jacksonville’s South Campus) for 3 days and 4 shows. Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack Show has been hailed as the next best thing to seeing the Rat Pack themselves. Now audiences in Jacksonville can experience this critically acclaimed, hugely entertaining theatrical production. Exciting new arrangements of the classic songs that people know and love will be preformed by actors capturing the stage essences of the original “Rat Pack” whose members included: Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and Joey Bishop.
In addition to the classic songs, audiences will hear original, never-before-heard songs written by the late, legendary songwriter, Ron Miller (“For Once In My Life”), and recorded voiceovers made exclusively for this show by Sandy Hackett’s father, the late, legendary comedian, Buddy Hackett.
With a stellar cast, Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack Show features performances by Sandy Hackett (Joey Bishop), a powerhouse veteran writer, producer and film & TV actor; his wife, singer/songwriter/producer and daughter of Ron Miller, Lisa Dawn Miller (Frank’s One Love); David DeCosta (Frank Sinatra); Dezmond Meeks (Sammy Davis, Jr.); and Tony Basile (Dean Martin). The incomparable musical team is led by Maestro Christopher Hardin and Conductor/Drummer, Ryan Rose.
The show features a comedic thread throughout, creating moments that will send audiences home with a smile on their faces and memories in their hearts. The Comedy is fresh and new, allowing audiences to experience the Rat Pack as if they showed up in today’s world. The ad-libbing and improvisation take members of the audience from tears to belly laughs, making it exciting for audiences to come again and again.
