Want to teach the kids a lesson in the classics? Take them back in time to the old days – the days before YouTube, reality TV, iPods or even Walkmans™ (RIP). The way our parents and grandparents were entertained – by Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.
Opening today at its new location at Las Vegas’ historic Riviera Hotel & Casino, Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack Show takes you back in time to the days of songs and jokes from players who really capture the spirit of the actual Rat Pack actors. The show plays Monday through Saturday at 7:00.
The show, which celebrates its one-year anniversary this week, is produced by Sandy Hackett, a powerhouse veteran writer/producer/actor, along with his wife, producer/singer/songwriter Lisa Dawn Miller, daughter of the late legendary Motown songwriter Ron Miller. Hackett is the son of the beloved comedian Buddy Hackett, who played with many of the original Rat Pack members.
Robert Vannucci, President of the Riviera Hotel & Casino, anticipates the show to be an exciting addition to the Riviera. “Sandy Hackett’s Rack Pack Show transports audiences to a legendary and radiant place in time. The Riviera was a part of that era then, and is thrilled to continue the tradition with this much-anticipated debut.”
In fact, the original Rat Pack members all played the Riviera back when they were in their heyday. The cast captures the spirit of the original members with remarkable skill, according to the stellar reviews.
Players include David DeCosta (Frank Sinatra), Doug Starks (Sammy Davis, Jr.), Tony Basile (Dean Martin), Lisa Dawn Miller (Frank’s One Love), and Sandy Hackett (Joey Bishop). Buddy Hackett and Ron Miller are also part of the cast for a truly family affair. Buddy plays the “Voice of God” according to the playbill.
