The Rat Pack was was style and substance, mixed with a swagger and personalities that attracted the masses.
The same goes for Sandy Hackett's The Rat Pack Show that hits the Atlanta area for a run this week at the Cobb Energy Center
Believe it or not, it's also a high tech production.
I was able to talk with Lisa Dawn Miller, President of Hackett Miller Company, Inc. who also performs in the show about some of the technology used in the show and what fans will see March 14-17 when it arrives in Atlanta.
According to Miller, fans will notice the technology in play right off the bat.
"One of the things we do, is open the show with a video," states Miller. "It's produced so it gives the audience the feel of what it would be like to be with The Rat Pack.
The opening sequence includes special effects with shadows disappearing and turning into the actors in the show.
"We show that old famous original picture of the group and they they fade out and disappear in the order of their death," explains Miller.
Miller says they are proud of the video produced for the show and one even took a month to make. Hackett Miller made the video and Lisa directed it in HD.
Miller also said that modern technology has helped getting the word out about the show as it travels the country.
"The internet has leveled the playing field," analyzed Miller.
That is the reason she is seeing more and more young people at shows.
Miller credits YouTube videos, social media and word of mouth for getting the younger demographic to turn out.
"Our show is a theatrical production, and people appreciate that," offers up Miller, who plays the role of Frank's One Love in the show.
One other bit of technology fans sometimes question is why the guys aren't using corded microphones like the original Rat Pack.
Miller said they use cordless mics out of necessity because the guys dance and move around the stage so much.
Miller hopes Atlantans enjoy the weekend of shows, but she doesn't want the fact that Frank, Dean, Sammy and Joey not only loved performing together, but also loved each other off the stage.
